At 6:30, the clans, properly rested and psyched prepared to kick the living daylights out of each other in the next round. Here's what happened: Round 2 - Q2CTF5 - 18:30 CLAN KRUSTY vs AFTERSHOCK A test for clan AFT here, and one which they rose to well. In recent games they have often given away caps early, and this was obviously something that team captain [AFT]Kaneda had addressed as AFT held off currently very impressive CK. However, they could not keep this up, and CK finally got the breakthrough in the seventh minute. However, AFT, not to be outdone equalised soon after, [AFT]Rave pulling the teams level again. But it was CK who continued to cause the Aftershock chaps problems, [ck]mayday and [ck]SpK getting 3 caps and 2 respectively. AFT fought on to the last though, [AFT]Rave getting a last minute consolation. But, alas, it wasn't enough and AFT went out, CK through to the quarterfinals. YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE vs UK FIRM The currently very impressive UKF got off to a flying start against YWN with two early caps from clan leader [UKF]Mike and [UKF]SoLo. Further efforts from these two along with [UKF]Guerilla sealed a handsome 11 - 1 victory for UKF, whose division 4 prospects currently look pretty damn bright. Well played chaps. GET EVEN NOT XTERMINATED vs FRENCH CTF CLAN It had to be said that many people had written CTFr off before this game even began. If I am to be more honest than any healthy Englishman should be, I was one of those people. But, the reality turned out to be very different. In accordance with predictions Genx took an early lead. This was soon neutralised by [CTFr]DiesIrae. ![]() [CTFr]DiesIrae evens the scores, HONOUR GUARDZ vs THE FALLEN This game promised to be a fairly tight match. However, it was TF who made the explosive start here, [TF]Bats, [TF]PinkPorker and [TF]Manook catapulting TF into a 7 - 1 lead, Hg's only reply coming from [Hg]Niggy. Hg couldn't really keep up with the onslaught they were put under. At full time, the dust settled to reveal a 15- 2 win for TF. Special mention to [TF]Bats for gaining 8 caps, [TF]Pinkporker and [TF]Manook biting at his heels with the other 7 caps between them. THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT vs SUICIDE SQUAD SS, playing in what was apparently their last Q2 tournament, made a typically storming start, star lpb attacker [SS]Mantis looking superb along with [SS]Drugs backing him up with a few more caps for good measure. After nine minutes SS were in a commanding 6 - 0 lead. This merciless destruction of the TJD defence meant that after 15 minutes SS had got another 3 caps, while the Suicide Squad backline held firmer than a... well lets not go into that. Still this continued, and SS took a superb win, the score 14 - 0 at the end of the match. Note [SS]Mantis and [SS]Drugs who got erm... LOADS of SS caps. BIG BASTARD CLAN vs TETRA HYDROCOCANIBOL Somewhat of a mismatch here, as Division 6 second placers THC, took on Division 1 third placers BBC. This difference showed immediately as top BBC attackers [BBC]Nog and [BBC]Killemall got 2 caps each in the first 4 minutes! The Big Bastards continued laying on cap after cap against the struggling THC. It ended 17 - 0 to BBC. BBC was looking totally lethal at this point. EXECUTIONERS vs HAPPYCHAPS This promised to be an intriguing match up, Division 2 old hands eXe can upset anyone on their day. But could they manage it against current Division 1 leaders? Well, after the fourth minute HC_Luk, who HC only signed that evening, got his first cap in his second match for the Happychaps. HC_Pip then opened his account for the evening the seventh minute, closely followed by a cap for HC_Alb and then one for HC_Will. However, eXe remained tight and HC were unable to cap again. Still, those Happychaps went through after a good team effort against some staunch defence. Good game all. ROK vs REVENGE Rv are yet to beat ROK in recent times but games between these two clans are always well fought and very close with good skills on show. This is just what this game was, as ROK got off to a steady start, [ROK]Holmes getting 2 caps in the first 8 minutes. However Rv fought back hard, and it wasn't until the fifteenth minute that Holmes got his hat-trick and sealed the game for ROK with a third cap. A very well fought game, and as usual these two clans produced a very tight game. Good Stuff, ROK go through. End of Round 2 Well, here we were, three hours, forty-five minutes later, and the original twenty-eight clans had been cut down to eight. Were we tired, bored, wanting to go down the pub? HELL NO! There was a title to decide here! |
