SavageUK - q2ctf - Week 4

Division 7 - 16:00

Sadly, I was delayed in getting to my computer, and didn't make it until the first half of matches in division 7 had got underway. Apologies for this. Also, apologies for the lack of piccys, but, without demos I am lost :) Anyway, on with the reports!

UK SPECIAL GUARD vs WHAT THE F*CK!
UKSG in a few difficulties Savage wise at the moment, and by the same token so are WTF. This is mainly owing to the excellent standard of opposition in Division 7. But, make no mistake, both of these clans have a lot of talent and spirit within their ranks. Sadly, I wasn't back in time to catch the first half of this game. However it ended in a fairly convincing 13 - 0 win to WTF. The second game kicked off, UKSG eager to avenge this. However they got off on the wrong foot, giving away caps to WTF!Sumo amongst others. Things were not looking good for UKSG, as after 6 minutes, they were six down :( However, they showed great character and defended superbly after this. They really stopped the flow of WTF caps, and although they were unable to score any more WTF didn't score again for the next 14 minutes of the match.

DEATH BY QUAD vs YOUR DIRTY
Sadly, neither clan were able to raise a team, and so a 0 - 0 draw is the outcome decided by the admins.

FRENCH CTF CLAN vs REBEL RIDERS
The division's two best clans (except maybe YWN) came face to face here. RR with an impressive played 6, won 6, and CTFr with a similarly impressive played 6 won 5, despite some of these being defaults. Both sides with a lot of talent both at the front and the back, some serious European players in RR, and of course CTFr being made up of talented French players. And bloody ell, what a match it was! The first game was incredibly tight, both teams' skills almost cancelling each other out! CTFr caps came from [CTFr]Voronwe and [CTFr]Vipere1, they got two each. RR was unable to quite match this, only managing 3, which came from Furbie (2) and Police (1). The first half ended 4 - 3 to CTFr, a VERY close game. The second half was less close, RR obviously eager to avenge their first half defeat. However, it was CTFr who made the early headway with a cap from [CTFr]Vipere1. But, it was to be RR's half as they blitzed the CTFr defence and got plenty of caps courtesy of Furbie, and Phule in the opening section of the game. More caps came from Ganja, Loffa, and in the 16th minute Proba pretty much sealed it up with another cap, followed closely by a seventh and final cap from Police. A very good game chaps!

YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE vs CMC
A default going the way of the impressive YWN. Their good season continues!

Division 6 - 16:00

DIGITAL WARFARE vs FREMEN
Both of these clans are part of this crop of very promising clans rising up from the lower divisions. Going into their game last week vs genx, the -DW- posse hadn't lost a match. However, they suffered a nasty defeat at the hands of last Sunday's Savage Cup finalists. Fre have looked impressive against THC and KotR, gaining max points from both of these games. Sadly, this was another match where I missed the opening leg. However, it was pretty close, ending as it did 4 - 0 to DW. The second leg was another very close run thing. The game's only cap came in the 5th minute -DW-Haste cutting through the FRE defence and then out the other side. After that both teams defended well, getting an even share of the quads, and it ended 1 - 0 to DW.

WE KICK BUTT vs KoR
WkB got the night off here, with a default from their opposition :(

TC vs GET EVEN NOT XTERMINATED
Another default here, genx go away with the points.

ARSENAL FANATICS CLAN vs TETRA HYDROCOCANIBOL
AFC ever improving at the moment, with a good win over WkB two weeks ago. THC also look pretty good with a nice win in week 1. Unfortunately, I was only at my desk in time for the last few minutes of the first half. However this was in time to see some very nice caps from {AFC}Kanu, as he rounded off a 5 - 1 win for the Arsenal chaps. The second half however, was a lot tighter. Mace put his clan in a good position early on with a cap, followed by another for THC from Rizzla. Nevertheless AFC fought back hard an it was that man {AFC}Kanu who made the difference with two quick caps bringing his team back on even terms with THC in the 7th minute. {AFC}Kanu then came in quick with another cap to put his team in the driving seat. It looked like this would be tight. THC then immediately grabbed their lead back with two sharp caps from SBD and Mace. It looked like it was curtains for {AFC}. But never Fear {AFC}Parlour's Here!! Yep, Parlour, with just a couple of minutes to go got the cap back, to earn his clan a well deserved extra point. Well played all.

Division 5 - 17:00

UK LAVA DIVERS vs DARK FORCES
UKLD are fighting hard all the time in division 5, and thanks to some good scrapping have managed to take points in all of their games so far, even when it looked like they were beaten at times. DF too are fighting hard at the moment, despite a defeat at the hands of =PS= last week. But, it was UKLD who were able to impress here. [UKLD]Predjee, [UKLD]Sauron and [UKLD]Troubs getting early caps. These three continued to hammer em in, also with a cap from [UKLD]Charlie. With 15 minutes to go, UKLD were 9 - 0 up and that's how it ended. In the second half DF were somewhat better, defending with skill and spirit. However they couldn't hold off that man [UKLD]Sauron who came in to give UKLD the lead. This was followed by a cap from clan leader [UKLD]Denyerec and another from [UKLD]Sauron. DF held firm though, and only allowed one further cap, which came, somewhat appropriately from [UKLD]Predjee. 4 - 0 to those lava diving nutters.

QC vs RAIL GUN SUCKAZ
A default going the way of QC

SPAM vs DI
A default giving those Spammers all 6 points.

BEYOND BELIEF vs PORNSTARS
Another default saw the division leaders go home with all five points and their unbeaten record in tact.

Division 4 - 18:00

NEW KEITH ORDER vs LETHAL DOSE 50
NKO had a hard match two weeks ago against QID, and got a default last week. Always dangerous, they prepared to take on the LD50 boys. LD50 had a good record going into this match: played 6, won 5. With some experienced players they looked impressive. Neither team made any impression on the game in the early stages. However, the deadlock was finally broken with caps from LD50.Herrbob and LD50.CripplR. More caps were to follow, courtesy of LD50.Tartros, LD50.CripplR and LD50.Herrbob. The usual suspects gave LD50 still more caps, as well as one from LD50.Diablo and LD50.GN. NKO's only reply came from a cap from [NKO]Hetter. The match ended 11 - 1 to LD50. As for the second match I can't really comment. All sorts of problems with a) the servers and b) people having a problem with an admin's decision. It's being argued over as I write this, so I'm sure we'll get a fair result soon.

CLAN GRIEVOUS ANGEL vs QUAKE IMPERIAL DESCENDANTS
This game promised in theory to be a fairly close one, both teams fairly evenly matched. They've both had a fair few ups and downs so far this season, although CGA are now straying dangerously close to the relegation zone. CGA made an excellent start here, with a cap in the first minute from their impressive attacker CGA-Dill. However it wasn't to be their night as [QID]Struis equalised in the 5th minute and clan leader, the one and only [QID]Lee giving his side the lead in the 7th minute. QID then went 3 - 1 up in the 10th as Struis again made his way through the CGA defence to put his side 2 caps clear. Following this, [QID]Struis and [QID]Lee did a nice clean up job getting another cap each. Special mention also to [QID]Ezoray for some damn sexy defensive work. The second half was another neck and neck affair, neither clans managing a cap for the first half. But, it was CGA clan leader CGA-Necrolord who put his clan ahead, capping in the 11th. [QID]Lee accepted the challenge from his opposite number, and soon put his clan back on even terms. QID's experience now started to show as they began to lock the map down, taking the lead with a cap from [QID]Struis. The game was sealed up for QID with a third and final cap from [QID]T1000. A good game here, both clans giving their all.

UK FIRM vs NIGHT LORDS
A default to UKF, and their impressive season continues.

CORPORATE BLOODSUCKERS INC. vs THE ANGRY ANGELS
CBSI looked much the favourites here, having played 6 and comfortably won 6. Their squad will be still further strengthened when they are allowed to play ex bYc star Zen next week. The angry angels aren't having the best of seasons right now, and are also sliding down the table. They desperately needed a win. CBSI made a predictably good start here, as CBSI-GraZe slammed home his first of the night in the second minute. CBSI, continued to hurt TAA at a steady rate, with three more caps in the game, provided by CBSI-Mhore, CBSI-graZe and CBSI-Fragmonkey. The game ended 4 - 0 to CBSI. The second game though, proved to be one of the best games of the night. CBSI playing with a team of four soon lost an early cap to veteran [TAA]Cynic and two caps to equally experienced campaigner [TAA]Maumau. When [TAA]orph put away a fourth cap, all looked finished for the CBSI boys. However, a certain Mr CBSI-Fragmonkey decided he would start playing the game of his life. He pulled on back in the 13th. Another followed. By this point, in #scores we had gone from, "oops they've got one back" to "hang on a sec...". He then got another, 4 - 3. And then another! By this stage we were at the "****ing hell!!!" point. It looked like the man had earned them a point! But not if CBSI-Graze was to have anything to do with it! Swooping in in the 18th minute he got a final, last gasp cap, securing the most amazing comeback!! 5 - 4 to CBSI!

Division 3 - 19:00

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS vs ROK
ROK currently division 3 favourites and looked ever so dangerous. However, AbFab, one of the oldest clans around is ALWAYS dangerous, no matter when or where. This looked like it could be a good one. [ROK]Blade got ROK off to a good start in the first half, with a nice cap in the third minute of combat. This was soon followed by two caps from [ROK]Fro, as ROK went into overdrive. 20 minutes of pure capping craziness later, ROK emerged as 11 - 0 victors, thanks both to some great attacking skills, especially from [ROK]Fro and [ROK]Blade as well as some tight defensive work. Sadly, AbFab, still having player problems were forced to forfeit the second half :( However, special mention to two the players above who managed 5 caps and 4 caps respectively. ROK continue to look firm faves for the division 3 title!

AFTERSHOCK vs PYROKLEPTOMANIACS
AFT are getting used to division 3 very nicely, and look as if they are definitely in with a shout for promotion to division 2. They proved this here against the struggling PK. [AFT]Rave kicked the AFT chaps into a nice start with an early cap in the third minute of the first half. Hpb chappy [AFT]JaMMin made a comeback to Savage action after a while out with AFT's second cap in the 5th minute. PK fought back, however they couldn't stop [AFT]Rave from putting the AFT into a commanding 3 - 0 lead at the 10 minute mark. This first leg was rounded off convincingly by AFT as they managed another 3 caps, courtesy of team captain [AFT]Kaneda (2) and [AFT]Rave (1). In the second half [AFT]Kaneda, playing attack for his first time in Savage (He usually represents AFT's last line of defence), showed that he can be a real Jack-of-all-trades, grabbing AFT's first two caps. This was followed up by top lpb [AFT]Towser who managed a nice couple of caps after this. But it was [AFT]Kaneda who really impressed, nailing home AFT's final two caps, to kill the game off. Another 6 - 0 win to those AFT loonies and they are pushing for the heady heights of division 2!

APOCALYPSE vs REVENGE
Rv having a fairly indifferent season, winning some and losing some at the moment. Going into this game APO desperately needed a win, as they've been without points so far this season. The first leg of this match was fairly quiet, as the abilities of each clan showed, and they both managed to keep each other pretty much in check. However, Rv was able to make the important breakthroughs with caps from [Rv-Vorvavoo] and the fairly new signing [Rv -MENTALIST]. It was a hard fought 20 minutes, but as the dust cleared Rv walked away with the points. However, APO managed to get their show on the road and finally started to resemble the clan of old as they took the fight to Rv in the second half. Early caps from [APO]Amadeus and [APO]DRjones put them on top, and they committed themselves well to holding onto their lead. 3 more APO caps followed thanks to some good use of the quad, Rv's only response coming from a cap by [Rv-MENTALIST]. The match ended 5 - 1 and APO take their first points of the season. More performances like that needed if they are to stay up.

THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT vs REPETITIVE STRAIN INJURY
Two fairly evenly matched clans prepared to give battle here, TJD, under the one and only [TJD]"YES I CAN CAP, HAHAHAHAHA" Rico, are always a threat. But RSi is also a well-balanced clan, full of talent. This promised to be a good one. Well, speculation about this match abounded in #scores, one of the rumours being that TJD attackers had planned to drop the flag for Flag defender [TJD]Rico, following him getting one of his first caps in recent memory in last Sunday's Savage New year Cup. So, the match kicked off at the arranged time. No matter how ready RSi felt they couldn't possibly have been prepared for the onslaught that TJD were about to mount, ably lead by the one and only [TJD]KW, who snatched TJD's first cap, early on. Rsi's base was then given a major punishing from TJD's attack trio [TJD]KW, [TJD]Wayfarer and [TJD]Nightmare. [TJD]KW shone as usual, carrying off 4 caps. Rsi's only reply came from [RSi]Rev, and the game ended 8 - 1 to TJD. From the opening section of the second half, affairs were much closer, neither clan capping until in the 8th minute that man [TJD]KW thrust his clan into the lead, securing their position with another cap in the 11th. As clan leader [TJD]Rico kept his clan's back line clear, TJD managed a final three caps, with RSi not able to make a reply. The match ended 5 - 0, a great performance from all from TJD, despite some good skills and stern opposition from RSi.

Division 2 - 20:00

EXECUTIONERS vs THE FALLEN
eXe came into this season on the back of a good win over HsF during the week, giving them a record of played 6, won 5. However, TF looked as usual, Red-Hot, not having lost a game so far this season. And from the start, TF's devastating intentions were made clear, their stalwart defender [TF]Andy"UK giving TF the early lead, presumably having recovered the flag from a dead attacker. Soon TF really opened their shoulders, as clan leader [TF]Bats got their second, followed by a third from [TF]Pinkporker. At times in the game eXe were down to 5 players, [eXe]slider! with connection probs. However, pretty soon the now legendary TF attack trio was running amok in the eXe base. After 20 minutes of pure madness [TF]Mrs_B emerged with 3 caps, [TF]Pinkporker with 4 and [TF]Bats leading by example, finished the first half with 5. As the second half began, TF continued in the same manner, with good quad control from their attackers and [TF]Leviathan and [TF]Andy"UK keeping their base typically shipshape. [TF]Mrs_B opened the scoring , but it was [TF]Bats who must get man of the match here, slamming home 6 caps in a row with no reply! His scoring run was broken finally as [TF]Mrs_B grabbed his second of the half, followed shortly by a cap from [TF]Leviathan, another from [TF]Bats and finally, not wanting to be left out [TF]Pinkporker put his name on the second half score sheet. The game ended, 12 - 0, and I'm sure that I missed some caps myself! Congratulations to TF for a convincing win, commiseration to eXe who fought on honourably despite the 1 player disadvantage. TF looking good for the division 2 title.

SPOOKS vs SOUL REAPERS
Well, no matter what you think of Spooks, you cant deny that they are looking pretty damn good in division 2 at the present stage, especially considering the superb talent that they've brought on board the good ship Seccy from UNR. This showed, as SPKs lined up to face SR, who were unfortunately playing with just 5 men. The SPKs attack seemed to be lead by [SPKs]DIABOLIC, [SPKs]JiGGer and of course [SPKs]Sexxy (yes it was just seccy trying to be cool ). It was new signing [SPKs]DIABOLIC who got them off to a flying start with a nice early cap. This was soon followed by a cap from top class hpb [SPKs]JiGGer. After this came more caps from these two players, as well as clan leader [SPKs]Sexxy getting his first of the night. As the 20 minutes progressed the SPKs defenders seemed to fancy a bit of the action, as [SPKs]DaMaK and [SPKs]BULLY gave their contributions to the game of a cap each. To their credit, [SR] fought on, [SR]Bob with his usual astounding defensive work. But the half was to belong to SPKs as [SPKs]Sexxy and finally [SPKs]JiGGer put the final caps of the half away, and it ended 10 - 0 I think. The second half got underway and [SPKs]BULLY gave an excellent performance. I'm not sure if he was playing attack, but he certainly seems just as apt at scoring caps as he does at preventing them. It was he who managed [SPKs]first cap, UNR comrade [SPKs]DIABOLIC with the next to put SPKs 2 - 0 up. Plentiful caps followed for SPKs, courtesy of [SPKs]BULLY, [SPKs]DIABOLIC.... well basically everyone on the SPKs team except [SPKs]Axia who was giving an excellent account of himself in mid / defence. SPKs came out again with a very convincing win in this second half, and continue to look strong for a promotion place.

COWBOYS FROM HELL vs HELL'S FURY
CFH look like they've got their act together, whereas lack of player has put HsF in a very bad position at the moment :( HsF were forced to play this match with 5 players, missing [HsF]Pod. CFH took full advantage of this with 4 early caps from [CFH]Gabriel and [CFH]Shigeru. This was closely followed by a cap from [CFH]Ubik, making it 5 - 0 at the halfway point. However HsF fought on, showing their considerable talent and kept the CFH caps down to a minimum. But, [CFH]Gabriel and [CFH]Shigeru couldn't be stopped as they grabbed another 3 caps. The half ended 9 - 0 to CFH, and HsF, understandably defaulted the second half because of lack of players. :( CFH back in the swing of things.

COVERT OPERATIONS vs CLAN KRUSTY
Co are continuing to have problems in division 2, whereas Ck are currently looking very strong. [Ck]Marshall, newly signed to the clan, came up against his old clan here. But, for me the whole game was set alight by two players, both of them playing as hpbs (I think). They are [Ck]SpK and [Ck]Firestorm. It was in the 3rd minute that [Ck]SpK put his clan ahead, capping again in the 6th and the 12th. It would be a waste of time for me to detail every cap made by [Ck]SpK and [Ck]Firestorm, as they were the only players to cap! Between them they devastated the Co defence, whilst, behind them in defence, [Ck]Hippy, [Ck]Silver and co. gave staunch battle to the Co attackers. At the end of the first 20 minutes, [Ck]Firestorm and [Ck]SpK had managed 4 and 5 caps respectively. A great performance from not only them but the Ck players who did a great job of supporting them. The second half, however, could well have been a different story. Co holding the Power Amp for 12 minutes, their defenders doing a great job of stopping a repeat performance from the Ck attackers. Neither team scored in this time, and things were looking better for Co. But, yet again Ck made the vital breakthroughs, and it was [Ck]SpK who made the difference, he quaded up, gained entry to the Co base and managed to take out the Co amp carrier as well as killing their FC, allowing an instant cap from the waiting [Ck]Firestorm and instant power amp to Ck defence. They had the upper hand, and soon [Ck]SpK opened up the gap to two caps. The game ended as [Ck]Hippy made a nice cap to finish all hopes for Co. A good performance from both clans, but Ck take all 6 points.

Division 1 - 21:00

BIG BASTARD CLAN vs SUICIDE SQUAD
Two of the league's best clans clashed here, SS eager for vengeance for their defeat in the Semis of the Savage New Year Cup at the hands of BBC, whereas BBC are looking in the best form of recent times and are the only clan who can theoretically catch HC at the top. The game kicked off, and both clans, well known for their quad holding abilities gave a fairly even battle. However, it was a player who greatly impressed in the cup, [BBC]Nog who made the difference, capping to put his team one up. Soon after, he grabbed another from the excellent SS defence, and completed this second cap in the 8th minute. Meanwhile the BBC defence held firm, despite the usual savage attacks from [SS]Mantis and co. As the game neared the end, [BBC]Nog completed his hat trick, and a cap soon followed again from top hpb [BBC]Killemall. The game ended 4 - 0, BBC looking dangerous, but SS always ready for them to make a mistake. As the second game began SS were reduced to 5 men, as [SS]Apprentice had problems. It was [BBC]Dom who decided he would take full advantage of this, getting two early caps in the first 3 minutes. Finally [SS]Apprentice got on and started some major league fragging. However, BBC had the upper hand by now, as [BBC]Nog put two more on the scoresheet, followed closely by two nice efforts by [BBC]Killemall. [BBC]Dom then completed his hat trick, despite SS fighting and fragging hard. At the 10 minute point BBC were 7 - 0 up. SS fought back hard and only one more BBC cap was forthcoming, thanks to [BBC]Killemall. SS really started to get a grip on the game, [SS]Apprentice and [SS]Raptor working their socks off in their respective positions. But, it was the ever impressive [SS]Drugs who managed to get SS on the score sheet. However it was just too late, and SS were unable to make a further impression on the game, which ended 8 - 1 to BBC. A very good game, with some top capping and fragging from both teams.

LETHAL ENFORCERS vs DEFENDERS SHERWOOD
With LE currently in top form and DS looking their usual pretty darn tasty selves, this promised to be a very close fought match. In the first leg it was LE who impressed the most, proving that they truly are up to life in division 1. After a quiet start, LE-Legs got the first cap of the match in the 7th minute. He soon managed another, to put LE in the driving seat. The Enforcers soon tightened their grip on the game, and clan leader LE-TheRookie forced LE's 3rd cap despite heavy opposition on the flag's way home from DS. LE-*VENOM* soon put the final nail in the DS coffin, with a cap toward the end of the game, confirming LE's 3 points. DS would need to tighten up if they were to get anything from the second half. This they did, and again after a tight, no caps start, [DS]NS came in with the Defenders' first cap of the night in the 6th minute. However, the clans were soon drawn level again, and, almost predictably, it was top attacking bod LE-Legs who achieved this, capping in the 9th minute. LE started to lock the map down, and there was some furious fighting in the middle for quad control. Finally the deadlock was broken, and 5 minutes later, in the 14th, veteran LE-gratis gifted LE with the lead. From #scores, DS looked done for. But they showed their experience here, as well as their team spirit. [DS]LJ with an excellent and devastating attack a minute later earned his clan a well-deserved point, as no one else capped for the remaining 5 minutes. Respect to both clans, all of whose players fought very hard for their rewards. GG.

HAPPYCHAPS vs BLOODED YAUTJA CLAN
Sadly, the hunting season is over, and Savage has had to wave the one and only clan bYc goodbye. Love em or hate em, you can't deny that they, at times, were one of the best clans around. Respect. However, those chaps now look set to take the title for the second consecutive season, with the defaulted 6 points here, they are going to be very hard to catch.

UNREAL vs HONOUR GUARDZ
[sniff] Another one bites the dust, as UNR, quite possibly the most respected clan in the UK move on to new pastures of the Quake 3 variety. Hg take their first points of the season from this default, and, with all these clans moving on, look set to get another crack at Division 1 next season.

Well, that's it folks, hope you've enjoyed it. Farewell to all those clans who have folded / moved on this week. But, cmon, we saw some excellent games played this week, Savage still going strong!
Same time next week, don't you dare miss it!
Cheers,
