At NO point will you verbally abuse any of the Savage Council or Savage Match Admins, if you do you will receive a 2 Match ban and if that does not stop the abuse then your clan will be removed from the league.

Grievances will only be listened to via email.

If, for whatever reason, you have a grievance against a Match Admin then please email it to The Savage Council

If, for whatever reason, you have a grievance against a Council Member then please email it to The Savage Council Chairman

Please do not expect all problems to be sorted out on the night.

Once you have mailed your grievance you should expect a reply within a week.

If you are experiencing problems with connecting to a SavageUK (Match or Public) Server, please perform a DOS tracert to the IP of the server you are experiencing problems with and post the results to the Savage Servers Forum Please remember to tell us where you are based, what ISP, type of connection etc. as it all helps to identify possible problems.

League Information

Season Length - 7 weeks

Maps - The present Savage q2ctf League map list is as follows:

Match Times - During a Season Matches are played once a week on a Sunday Evening. Start times are dependent on your Division and are as follows:

  • Division 5: 5pm
  • Division 4: 6pm
  • Division 3: 7pm
  • Division 2: 8pm
  • Division 1: 9pm

Games will start as near to the Match Time as possible. The latest a game will start is as follows:

  • First game start: 5 Minutes after the hour.
  • Second game start: 30 Minutes after the hour.

This will give clans a maximum of 5 minutes (subject to the discretion of the Match Admin) to join the server initially, and then make any changes to their team between the 2 games. It is advised that both teams remain on the server for the 5 minute mid-match break.

It is up to you to be on the Match Server in time for the game.

It is recommended that Clans stay on the Match Server between games, as the Match Admin are instructed NOT wait for overflows or players reconnecting.

Rescheduling of Matches - A clan may only reschedule one Match a season, BUT the other clan must agree first and may, if they wish, turn you down therefore receiving a Default win.

Match Day Information

Internet Relay Chat - Details are as follows:

  • Server: irc.barrysworld.com:6667
  • Match Channel: #savage.q2
  • Admin Channel: #admins
  • Council Channel: #council

Match Server details - will be given out in IRC 5 minutes before a Match Starting time and will not be given out any earlier so please do not ask. Please make sure a Clan representative is in #savage.q2 to collect server details.

Please make sure that you wear your ClanTags whilst in #savage.q2 to allow admins to easily identify missing/absent clans.

Swearing, flooding or anything else classed as disruptive in #savage.q2, #admins and #council is not permitted; you WILL be kicked/banned if you do so.

Please do NOT join the Match Server until an Admin gives the all clear and the match server is cleared from the last game (in the case of a match over-running).

Please do NOT join the #admins or #council IRC Channel unless you are requested to do so by a Council Member or in the case of #admins by a Match Admin. If you do then you WILL be kicked.

If the IRC server crashes please use either one of the following:

  • IRC.THEDBS.COM:6667
  • CHAT.UK.QUAKENET.EU.ORG:6667

Server Information

Quake 2 CTF Server Mod - Quake2 L-Fire CTF with Q2Admin

Server Settings - Are as follows:

  • Frag Limit: 0
  • Capture limit: 0
  • Dmflags: 280116
  • Max Clients: 16
  • Weapon stay: ON
  • Quad drop: ON
  • Fast weapons: ON
  • BFG: ON
  • ItemFlags: 3
  • Rate Cap: 7000
  • cl_maxfps Cap: 90

Quake 2 Client Requirements

The only additional patch you require for "out of the box" Quake 2 is the official ID 3.20 Point Release which is available top download from here

Then you need to install version 1.13 of Q2ACE and run q2ace.exe instead of quake2.exe.

Match Rules

Match Length - A MATCH consists of TWO 20-minute GAMES.

Match Scoring - Each game within a Match is classed as a separate entity.

Points will be given out per game as follows:

  • 3 points for a win
  • 1 point for a draw

Caps scored will decide the winner of each game.

If each Clan has the same amount of Caps by the end of a game it will be classed as a Draw.

Team size - 6 players.

Rate - Should be 7000 or below.

If an Admin detects a player with a rate above that the player will be asked to lower it.

If the player concerned does not lower their rate within 2 minutes of being asked they will be kicked from the game.

cl_maxfps - should be 90 or below.

If an Admin finds a player with a cl_maxfps above that they will be asked to lower it.

If the player concerned does not lower their cl_maxfps within 2 minutes of being asked they will be kicked from the game.

Team Communication - Please keep all messages to 'messagemode2'/'say_team'/'STEAM'. It is up to you to find out how to do this.

Spectators - Are NOT allowed on to the Match server.

If a member of a Clan joins a Match Server and is not playing they will be asked to leave by the Admin. If they do not leave they WILL be kicked.

Subs - Are NOT allowed on to the server unless:

  • Their Clan loses a player due to disconnection.

Once the dropped player rejoins the Sub must drop immediately.

Comms - Real-time voice-comm utilities such as Battlefield Communicator and Roger Wilco are permitted.

Match Colours - From the fixtures page the team on the LEFT will always go BLUE for the 1st game, and then change to RED for the 2nd game.

Defaults - If a Clan turns up with less than 4 (FOUR) players by the latest starting time then the Admin will default the game to the other clan.

If during a game a Clan deliberately drops below 4 (FOUR) players a Default will be awarded to the other Clan - overflows are of course excluded from this rule.

In the occurrence of a default being given the following will be awarded per game defaulted:

  • 3 game points
  • 6 Caps

If a Clan defaults halfway though a game the above will count unless the Cap score is greater in which case the greater Cap score will be given.

A Clan will not be allowed to continue capping if the opposition has defaulted the game.

If a Clan should miss/default 2 league Matches in a season then they will be removed from the League.

Match Server Crashes - This, unfortunately, does sometimes happen.

If it does please go to IRC #savage.q2 and await your new Match Server details.

If a spare Match Server cannot be found then the Match will be replayed at a later, mutually convenient date to be decided by the Savage Council.

Following a Server Crash the game will be played with the following game Length:

  • Time remaining greater than 15 Minutes: New Game
  • Time remaining Between 10 and 15 Minutes: 15 minutes
  • Time remaining Between 5 and 10 Minutes: 10 minutes
  • Time remaining Between 1 and 5 Minutes: 5 minutes
  • Time remaining One Minute or less: No Replay

It is understandable that a Clan might feel aggrieved due to Techs being held and position on the map. This cannot be taken into account in a replay.

If the Match Server crashes before 5 minutes of game has been played then it will be classed as a new game and any Cap score will be lost.

If a game has been playing for more than 5 minutes then the Cap score at the time of the Match Server crash will be carried forward to the replay.

Clan Rules

Clan "Whoring" - Will NOT be tolerated.

A player cannot play for more than one team within the Savage Q2CTF League and the Savage Q2CTF Academy.

If a player changes Clan there must be a gap of eight days between their last appearance for their old Clan and their first appearance for their new Clan. If it is found that a player has broken this rule the Match they played in will be classed as a Default in favour of the opposing Clan. The player will also receive a 4 match Ban. If a Clan breaks this rule twice they will be kicked from the League.

It is up to the Clan to make sure they know who is playing for them.

A player may play for more than one Clan if it is for another MOD or a different league.

Players from clans outside the SavageUK q2ctf League may play for Savage clans as well as their own clan.

However, such players will be match tied for a period of eight days from the time they join to the time they are eligible to play.

In order to field a player, SavageUK q2ctf clans must ensure that they abide by the following:

  • The player must be registered on the clan's CAPS members list. Players SHOULD play under the name they registered on CAPS, or if they use a variation, that SHOULD be added as a Match Name.

However, as long as the opposition team and the match admin are satisfied that the player is who they say they are, then a match may proceed, but there will be no scope for complaint after the match UNLESS the player is found out not to be who it was claimed he was. The match admin has the power to over-rule a clan. If the match admin is satisfied, the match may proceed.

If a clan wants to complain about a player name, they must do it before the game starts, and if they let the game proceed it is taken as read that they have accepted who they are facing as opposition.

  • the player must not be fielded for a period of eight days from the time they join the SavageUK q2ctf clan. This applies for all new members irrespective of whether they joined from another SavageUK q2ctf clan, a non-Savage clan or were unclanned prior to membership.
If a clan is found to be fielding a player who is not on their members list, or within the eight day tied period, that clan will be penalised by a three point deduction per incident. If the rule is broken in both 20 minute games, six points will be lost.

A player may still not play for two clans within SavageUK q2ctf, so if the player's original clan also join the SavageUK q2ctf League, that player must chose which clan he will play for. He may change his mind, but will be subject to the eight day period during which he may not play.

Q2CTF Boardroom

The q2ctf Boardroom - Is there for you to say what's on your mind.

However it is NOT there to verbally abuse any of the Savage Council or Admins, if you do you will receive a 2 Match ban and if that does not stop the abuse then your clan will be removed from the league.

If you have a grievance do NOT use the Boardroom. Instead please use the grievance procedures as detailed above.

The Savage Council reserves the right to delete or edit posts that are felt to bring the Savage q2ctf League into disrepute.

Disruptive Behaviour

Bots - Will NOT be tolerated.

Bots are easy to spot. If a player is found to be using a Bot they will be banned for LIFE. Bots include Speed, auto-aim bots, health bots, etc...

Proxies -

Any proxy other than BiteMe! is NOT allowed. For the purposes of this league, a proxy is defined as a piece of third-party software that intercepts and modifies the data packets sent between the Q2 client and the Q2 server, this includes software such as:

  • Xania
  • Nitro/Nitro2
  • kfkTimer

Auto-synching/Auto- timers - Will NOT be tolerated.

If a player is found to be using an auto-synching timer they will be kicked. - Note by auto-synching we mean the automated team-wide synchronisation of a timed event (Quad spawn, PS spawn, etc..) or the automated starting of a timer. 60 second ps.wav/quad.wav sound files that have to be started manually are OK, as are programs such as BattleCom/Roger Wilco.

Hacked or modified Quake2.exe files - Will NOT be tolerated.

If a player is found to be using a such a quake2.exe file they will be banned for LIFE. These files include anything thats not been compiled by AMD or iD. Therefore only iD and AMD 3.20 exe is allowed.

If it is found that a playing Clan or Clan member caused the Match Server to crash then the match will be forfeited with the opposing Clan receiving the default score.

The console command "kill"- Must NOT be used in the first minute of a game. If, during this period, it is found that a player has used this command during this time they WILL be kicked from the game. If, at a later point, a player has been found to use the Kill Command any Captures made by that persons Clan in the first minute of the game WILL be deducted.

Deliberate suicides will be viewed in the same way.

Spamming/Flooding the server - Will NOT be tolerated.

If a player repeatedly uses 'messagemode1'/'say' or the console to Spam or Flood the Match Server during a game they WILL be kicked.

Division Placings

Clans will be placed on a points basis first then by CAP difference. If at the end of the season a division has 2 teams on the same points that are in the promotion/title or relegation zone then these clans will play-off against each other. If there are 3 teams on the same placing then a "round robin" will be be organised. If 4 clans (heaven forbid) are on the same placing then top will play bottom, the middle 2 will play each other and then the 2 winners and 2 losers will play a final (if applicable). The map(s)/rules that will be used will be chosen by the Council.

The Savage UK q2ctf League reserves the right to change these rules as it sees fit due to circumstances beyond the Leagues control.
