AcK win the League

Congratulations to AcK after comfortably beating their opponents, 2X|, 8-0 (demo here)and winning the league. A previously very tight game saw CGA lose to DS 8-7 (demo here) with only seconds to spare, which meant AcK only had to draw to win the league, while EI struggled to get a team together so defaulted to dobo.
There's a poll up for a few more days here asking if we should run a CTF league next instead of a S2 ACTF league. Please add your comments to the thread.

Week 6

1 week to go and still AcK & CGA can't be seperated. Both teams won on Sunday to keep them unbeaten at the top. CGA won their game against 2X| after dropping to 4 players when 2X|'s 5th couldn't get on the server. AcK started off slow with a small flag stand off but then rampaged all over EI. TJD notch up their first (and possibly) their last ACTF win (excluding defaults). In a trilling game a 3 man DS team started off well by going 2-0 up only to be clawed back by TJD. With DS hounding at their heels a well battled TJD team held on to their 7-6 lead as the timelimit struck.
AcK play 2X| & CGA play DS this Sunday. If both teams have the same result it'll go into a decider match between the 2 next Sunday.

Week 5 & New Map

With 2 reschedules and a default last night, we saw just the one game get played. This was between dobo & AcK. It started very well for dobo going 1-0 and battling out the next 5 minutes with AcK in mid. But it was not to be and AcK showed they were too strong for dobo by getting a tight grip on the map and winning comfortably 8-1.
Week 7 will now use the map Q4CTF7 (Tremors) instead of Q4CTF3 (Speed Trap). Please make sure you inform your clan about this change.

The savage league servers have now been updated to use the latest Q4MAX release v0.71. Please make sure you have got the release from here and unzipped into your q4max directory before joining your server.
You will also need the Quakemas Map Pack that was released just before XMas. You can get this from here. Please also join in the poll here before it closes, about the use of Q4CTF7 in the league.

Wow! AcK v CGA

While I extract the foot from my mouth have a look at the AcK v CGA demo. One hell of a game. Flag stand offs, FCs being chased with 5 health and just surviving, FCs dying with their teammates picking up the flag then dying themselves and swapping of leaders. Everything down to the last few seconds. WATCH THE DEMO!

Week 4

It looks like the deciding league championship game between AcK and CGA (the only 2 clans left on 100% records) will now be played on Wednesday after AcK asked for a postponement. Elsewhere though we had no close games this week. DS won 8-1 against EI, dobo stuck another 8-0 loss onto TJD's already heavily loaded 8-0 losing record and 2X| had the default win over -DW-. Looking forward to the Wednesday game I can tell you! My money's on AcK but CGA are a practice hungry clan so maybe they could pull off a win? 8-2 to AcK is my prediction.

Flag bug in Q4ACTF???? Have a look at this demo. Watch for the flag stand off 3 quarters of the way through the game. Somehow the DS flag got returned and the dobo FC had it at the same time. DS obviously capped then so did dobo. Anyway, a very close match and a very worth while game to watch (I won't tell you the score ). TJD's 5th man struggled to get onto the server so CGA kindly dropped their 5th to spectate which is where he stayed for the entire match. CGA won it 8-0. With AcK getting a default v -DW- the 4th match EI v 2X|. I have to say that I was really looking forward to watching this. On paper they were equal. The game did not show this. 8-0 it finished with EI giving their opponents little rest while Dev ran riot with the Scout.

Week 2

Only two 8-0 scores this week, one comfortable win and again one very close match. -DW- pulled out which left EI with an 8-0 default win. DS lost their bearings and got handed an 8-0 loss for their troubles. 2X| dealt an 8-2 drumming to TJD. However the score doesn't reflect the real battle between these 2 that went on. With a quarter of the match in a flag stand off the score could have been a lot closer. The 4th match saw CGA scrape an 8-6 win. The match saw some really quick caps from both teams, changes in the leadership and flag stand offs. All added to the gripping tenseness of this match. More of these score lines please!!!!

One close game and 3 8-0 wins. CGA get the trophy for the quickest 8-0 so far (6 minutes & 43 seconds). You can get the demo of them playing EI from here. The best game was the 2X| v dobo match which saw a 6v5 scoreline and is well worth watching. Grab that demo from here. AcK beat TJD 8-0 (demo here) and DS beat -DW- 8-0 to wrap-up the 4th game.
Well played to all the teams. It was great to see a lot of the old faces still about (as I haven't been around for a while ). Only one person had problems getting onto the server and that's because he'd managed to have a Q4MAX directory within another Q4MAX directory. He obviously realised this after his game had been played, which had left his clan with 4. Didn't you BreakBeat

Final new maps for Sunday
|
2005-11-25 11:25:59
by: LJ
|
Requ!em has now removed the respawn points from the middle of the maps in Drach's FPS map pak. We now have a set of maps for the league that are standard (came with Q4) but with the FPS enhancements that Drach previously modified. Please make sure you have removed the 1st version of ctf-drach-uc-maps.pk4 (or Drach's original .pk4) file from the q4base directory and downloaded the updated version, before joining the server on Sunday.
In other words, if you haven't downloaded the pak file from the http://www.savageleagues.com/q4actf right menu since Thursday night at 11pm then you will need to do it again after removing it's predecessor.

Requ!em has very kindly changed the new FPS Maps so that the "extra" item placements have been removed. The FPS enhancements and respawn changes (made by Drach) have been kept in them though. We are testing this out on our server here:
213.230.209.100:28016
You will need the pak from here.
Please feel free to join and have a game. Minimum 6 players to start the game. If we get positive feed back we'll be using these maps for the league.

|2Xtreme| replace SS
|

by: LJ
|
SS will not be able to field a team for Season 1 which starts this Sunday, so |2Xtreme| have stepped in to replace them.
Please remember that you need to have the Q4MAX mod to join the league server. We will not be using the new fps maps (just to confirm) as it's too near the start of the season for clans to adjust to the slight modifications but never-the-less major impact changes to the tactics and playability of the maps.
Good luck this Sunday.

"QUAKE 4(tm) 1.0.4.0 Update README
Last updated 11-09-2005
Please note that in-game console commands are not supported by Activision(r).
This update for QUAKE 4 addresses issues found in both multiplayer and single player since the release of the game. A complete list of changes and additions is included below. For future updates and more information about the game, please visit the official game website at http://www.quake4game.com
If you require additional QUAKE 4 technical support, please see the help system that is included with the game, or visit the official game website at http://www.quake4game.com
NOTES FOR MOD USERS:
It is recommended that any user modifications that have been installed to the QUAKE 4 directory be removed before installing this update. These modifications are not supported by Activision and may not be compatible with some of the new features that are included in the patch.
FIXES & UPDATES IN 1.0.4.0:
GENERAL:
- Copied map files can now be overwritten/deleted without quitting first.
- The console command "com_allowconsole" will stay set after leaving the game.
INTERFACE:
- Improved Game Browser sorting and filtering: You can sort by up to three criteria, which will be displayed just under the server list, with the more recently clicked criteria sorting first. For example, to sort by ping time, then number of players, then gametype, click them in the reverse order:
Click "GAMETYPE," then "PLAYERS," then "PING." The server list will be sorted by the fastest ping, then the servers with the fewest players, then the gametype.
Clicking a category more than once will keep its position as
the primary sorting criteria, but will change the sorting order.
After cycling through all available sort types, clicking the category a final time will remove it from the sorting. Each criteria has specific behavior with one or two clicks, as listed:
Favorite Server: Display only favorites, or only non-favorites.
Password Enabled: Display only locked server, or only unlocked servers.
Dedicated Server: Display only Dedicated servers, or only Listen servers.
Punkbuster Enabled: Display only PB-enabled servers, or only PB-
disabled servers.
Server Name: Sort server names A to Z, or Z to A.
Ping: Sort by ping Low to High, or High to Low.
Players: Sort by Players High to Low, High to Low (non-full), Low to High, or Low to High (non-empty).
Gametype: Sort by Deathmatch, Team DM, Tournament, CTF, or Arena CTF.
Map: Sort by map CTF1 to DM9, or DM9 to CTF1.
- The Game Browser now displays more than 1000 servers.
- Fixed a problem with the refresh time on the Game Browser.
- Added a Game Browser filter for full or empty servers.
- Players can now connect to a server while the Game Browser is refreshing.
- Game Browser sorting will display the correct server information without the need to refresh the list.
- Clicking anywhere on the scrollbar except the button itself will advance a page up or down instead of shifting to that position.
- Non-full server sorting now disregards full servers.
- Game Browser hover window updates when sort order is changed.
- Fixed a Game Browser slowdown issue with high numbers of servers.
- Added Game Browser server list scrolling with the mousewheel, keyboard arrows up/down, and keyboard Page Up/Page Down.
- The Game Browser hover window will only appear when mousing over a highlighted server.
- Sorting by server name will now ignore colored names, brackets, etc.
MULTIPLAYER:
- The dedicated server window will now be titled with the si_name setting instead of "Quake 4"."
